Keep Your Children Safe on the Internet – Part 2

Parental Monitoring

Parents should not stop monitoring their child’s website access after the initial findings. They should continue to monitor access on an ongoing basis. This would include any type of communications such as instant messaging and chat rooms.

Chat rooms have been the main source of where a child gets mixed up with a sexual predator. Parents should also keep a close eye on e-mail correspondence that your child gets. There can be e-mail messages that will hold a clue to what’s going on with them.

Most parents have Caller ID with their phone system. Using Caller ID will let parents know who is calling them. If you suspect a sex offender calling there for the child, you can have the phone number blocked by your phone company. This can help to fight off the unwanted advances of a pervert.

If pornographic information is going to a child under 18, the perpetrator could be breaking the law if they know the child is under age. If this happens, parents should report it to your service provider. They can also report it to the perpetrator’s service provider.

In addition to that, parents should notify their local and county law enforcement authorities. Some of them have special units that work specifically with these kinds of cases. Even with this, parents should still continue to watch their child’s website activity.

When you do contact law enforcement, parents should make sure that the evidence is stored on the computer. They will want to see this to prove the parents’ claim. Parents should also keep the computer turned off until further notice.

They should not make copies of any of the evidence on the computer. Law enforcement will probably want to take the computer and examine it themselves.

In addition to doing the above to protect their child, parents should also invest in child internet protection software. It can help filter and block out any sites that parents don’t want your child to see.

There are certain types that can pick up everything that the child does on the internet, including surfing websites and participating in chat rooms. Parents can also record and make a copy of their child’s chat room conversations.

It’s unfortunate that children nowadays can’t get online without some pervert trying to entice them. There are so many of them on these chat rooms, it’s difficult to determine who is who. Parents will definitely want to play a more dominant role in protecting their child from these weirdoes.

There is too much going on with the internet for a parent not to want to take precautions and check their child’s activities online.

Parents may feel guilty at first, but after they get involved, they start to feel better and more secure about what’s going on. Parents want their child to be safe. The last thing they want to hear about is that their child is involved in something illegal or immoral.

Parental control software has helped many parents save their children from potential dangers and catastrophes. There have been reports of parents finding out that their child was involved in drugs or stealing.

Or that their child claimed to have a boyfriend or girlfriend online. Parents finding this out early on get a chance to intervene and prevent further trouble for their child.

There have also been reports that children have engaged in sexual relationships with adults two and three times older than them. Using the parental control software has been a godsend for many parents. This is why so many parents are now getting on the bandwagon and taking care of business with their child.

The parents know that it’s their responsibility to keep their child safe. If it means snooping and spying on them, so be it. The child may be annoyed at first, but a while, they’ll be grateful.

How To Keep Your Children Safe From Predators

Mainstream media is filled with stories of how scary children are preyed upon by stalkers from the Internet.  These people call kids on their cell phone using the telephone services from the Internet and harass them. They text them during odd hours and finally when your kids falls for the caller, then a meeting is arranged. Then does not have to spell out what would happen next.

It is important that one trusts his or her kids completely. Kids need to have a lot of freedom so that they can blossom and become confident. Childhood is also the best time in one’s life and it is every child’s birthright to have a proper childhood. However sometimes one has to take tough decisions so that one has a safe childhood. There can be times when your child’s seems withdrawn and seems lost. You’re child stays isolated and keeps to himself most of the time at home. These may just adolescence or it may be something deeper. If you have a close relationship with your son or daughter, you can have a conversation to sort out this problem. However the probability of this happening is very low of the generation gap. The conversation always ends in an argument with one of the you both walking off in a huff.

Your heart pains that your child is not responding to your pleas of help. So have to resort to other measures. You have to pry into his personal belongings. You kid will abhor you for doing this and even you may feel uncomfortable. However it is better nip the problem in the bud than wait for a solution.

You can first check out his cell phone for any unwarranted calls or messages. Your kids telephone would have a lot of adult jokes that might make you squirm. However these are a sign of growing up. You have look for those images which are scary and look for a number and name you do not recognize and jot these down on a piece of paper . Then you have to search

Once you have jotted these numbers on a piece of paper, you have to begin your search. You have to then log on to the Internet and begin you search. This is called as the reverse phone look up service.  There are free and paid websites that will help you out with your search. A paid search is very effective and can solve your problem quickly. It is advised that you use the paid service facility because of the magnitude of the situation. It will provide you the details of the identities address.

Once you find out the details you can either call up the person to finds out details about him and sort out this issue or ask your kid gently about it. You have to be very patient and understanding. This will help sort this issue out.

If none of the above measures work, you can take professional help. You can talk to the school authorities discreetly assist you or you can go to the police.

These measures may be difficult and harsh but it will prevent you kid from a lot of agony and help him have a good life.

Do a reverse phone lookup to nail prank calls.

Role of Wooden Blocks in Education and Development of Children

Development of children is not restricted to mere development in academics. Exams and grades measure only one aspect of the development of the children. How does one measure the social, emotional and physical development of the children?? Merely conducting tests and exams will not suffice.

Formal teaching is required for the development of the children but it is not enough to ensure that all facets of the personality of the children are developed. One must develop new qualities in children by engaging them in different activities and tasks

Various studies and researches have concluded that toys play a big role in the development of the children. What is often dismissed as a silly game actually contributes a lot to the progress of the child. One such toy which leaves an impact on each and every child it comes in contact with is the wooden block. The blocks unleash the creativity of the child and boosts its development.

Children who play with wooden blocks learn new skills faster and are more creative than other kids. Let us study the impact of the wooden blocks.

1. Wooden blocks compel the children to think. They encourage the children to be imaginative. They offer unlimited scope for the child to create and improvise.

2. Since the sellers of the wooden blocks are aware that they are targeting young children, the blocks are always brightly colored. The colors make the blocks very attractive. The bright colors and difference in shapes and sizes can be utilized to measure the ability of the child to identify objects and their attributes.

3. Wooden blocks cater to the sight and touch of the children. In a world where they are not allowed to touch anything of value, the children get to firmly grasp these toys. They can feel them, manipulate them and even destroy them. All this contributes to the hand eye coordination of the child. The child learns simple tasks and this helps it in its future life.

4. Wooden blocks compel the child to be imaginative. A healthy imagination is a must for the child to be healthy. A child which cannot imagine anything to do with the wooden blocks must be monitored. Such a simple test using simple wooden blocks can help identify disabilities in the child at a very young age. If the child does not learn that a square block does not fit into a round block, there must be a condition that must be identified and remedied. The blocks help in this process.

5. Toys like wooden blocks are often used by many children at once. The child learns that it has to share. The child learns that there are many ways to get hold of the block that he or she wants. The child learns that brute force does not always pay. It often invites rebuke from the guardian. Wooden blocks foster team spirit within the child.

6. Playing with wooden blocks automatically leads to experimentation. Different ideas are communicated, the ideas are considered, some are rejected outright, and some are tried and rejected while some are taken to the logical conclusion. This process continues throughout the life of the child. The process begins with wooden blocks.

What you just learned about wooden toys is just the beginning. To get the full story and more facts, check us out at http://www.squidoo.com/melissa-and-doug-building-blocks

Beware of caller ID spoofing: Your teens and young children can be deceived

What is caller ID spoofing?

Phone caller ID Spoofing is faking the caller ID of a phone. It lets you call a person and have any telephone number you wish be displayed on the persons telephone. Caller ID spoofing is bad news especially for young children and teens who have come to rely on what they see when the phone rings and give private information out over the phone thinking its safe, when in fact is very dangerous.

This is creating an outlet for child predators to disguise or even create a familiar phone number and voice that a child trusts, which will lead to disaster. Parents need to be aware that caller ID is not fool proof and should not be relied upon. If a youngster is allowed to answer the phone enforce the rule that they should not give out private info like gate codes, never say “mom and dad are not at home.” Make sure your children never give out information should a stranger call and want to know any personal information even if the caller id says police, a utility company or your childs school.

Here is an example of how Caller ID Spoof works:

Caller ID Spoof can be used on friends or used as a prank.  For a predator, they can even disguise him or herself to appear as a family member. Many caller ID spoofing services give you ability to change how your voice sounds and even change a male voice into a female voice or female into male voice!

Today, a simple thing like relying on caller ID has now become a method to harass and even torture millions and there is no end in sight. The majority of stalking victims report being harassed by phone and caller-id spoof technology has been used. Sadly, it is not known if any cases that involve the use of caller ID spoof have been prosecuted within the United States to date.

Alexis A. Moore, President and CEO of Survivors In Action and a Cyberstalking expert had this to say: “Today, child predators have the tools that they need at their finger tips and as our society continues to become more hi-tech the predator will become that much more sophisticated.”

How can it be legal for a person to change their phone number and caller ID?  Well it  is legal and the datafurnishing industry selling our private records is legal so the best thing we can all do for now until legislation is passed and enforced is to understand that caller ID spoofing exists and that you need to protect yourself until our antiquated laws catch up.

The FTC should step in as they have with key logging spyware  this past year, and halt this business practice today! We need response from our nation’s law makers – no more excuses!

If you are a victim of cyberstalking you are not alone! Survivors In Action specifically works with families who are cyberstalked.

Be Safe!

I founded Women’s Legal Resource in 2006 to help women who face the brutal challenges of the family law court system. After going through my own experience in the Family Law Court without the financial resources to obtain proper counsel, I was faced having to represent myself.

All though I faced many legal hurdles, I felt the need to help other women and advocate specifically for those who are Domestic Violence Victims.

Women’s Legal Resource is a nonpartisan organization that supports the efforts for Domestic Violence Reform and Family Law Reform. The present laws as they are written are flawed and do not meet the language of our ever growing savvy Hi-Tech protocol of the 21st Century, which places victims in danger.
